Website Audit Checklist

Five things to check on your website right now. Takes about 5 minutes. No tools needed — just your phone and a browser.

1

Page speed

Slow sites lose visitors. Google says 53% of mobile users leave if a page takes more than 3 seconds to load.

How to test:

  1. Go to pagespeed.web.dev on your computer
  2. Enter your website URL
  3. Click "Analyze"
  4. Check your mobile score (not desktop — mobile is what matters)
Good: 70+ score Needs work: Below 50 Problem: Below 30
2

Mobile responsiveness

Over 60% of searches happen on phones. If your site doesn't work on mobile, you're invisible to most potential customers.

How to test:

  1. Open your website on your phone (use mobile data, not WiFi)
  2. Can you read all text without zooming or pinching?
  3. Can you tap buttons and links easily with your thumb?
  4. Does the contact form work on mobile?
  5. Do images load properly and not stretch or overlap?
Good: All yes Needs work: 1-2 issues Problem: 3+ issues or can't use the site at all
3

Google Business Profile

Your Google Business Profile is the #1 free marketing tool for local businesses. Complete profiles get 7x more clicks than incomplete ones.

How to test:

  1. Search your business name on Google
  2. Does a business panel appear on the right side (desktop) or top (mobile)?
  3. Are your hours correct? (Check every day, including holidays)
  4. Is your phone number correct and clickable?
  5. Do you have at least 5 photos?
  6. Do you have at least 5 Google reviews?
  7. Is your website URL listed?
Good: All complete + 10+ reviews Needs work: Missing fields Problem: Not claimed or doesn't exist

Don't have one? Read our setup guide.

4

SSL certificate (HTTPS)

Google penalizes sites without HTTPS. Browsers show "Not Secure" warnings that scare away visitors. And no SSL means customer data (like contact form submissions) is sent unencrypted.

How to test:

  1. Look at your website URL in the browser address bar
  2. Does it start with https:// (not http://)?
  3. Is there a padlock icon next to the URL?
  4. Try visiting http://yourdomain.com — does it redirect to https?
Good: Padlock visible, redirects to HTTPS Problem: No padlock or "Not Secure" warning
5

Contact information

If a customer can't figure out how to reach you in 5 seconds, they'll find someone who makes it easier. Your contact info should be visible, clickable, and on every page.

How to test:

  1. Can you find a phone number without scrolling? Is it clickable (tap-to-call) on mobile?
  2. Is there a contact form that actually works? (Test it — many forms break silently)
  3. Is your email address visible? Is it a business email (you@business.com, not a Gmail)?
  4. Is your physical address listed (if you have a location)?
  5. Are business hours displayed? Are they current?
Good: All visible and clickable Needs work: Hard to find or not clickable Problem: Missing or broken contact form
